Details have been announced of this year's National Cinema Day on Saturday 3 September, with €4 tickets "all day, all seats, all shows" in participating cinemas.

Among those lending their support to the day is filmmaker Emer Reynolds, whose credits include the recently released Joyride and the 2020 documentary Phil Lynott: Songs for While I'm Away.

Director Emer Reynolds is heading to her local cinema for National Cinema Day

"There's nothing quite like the magic of cinema; experiencing the shared waves of emotion; laughing and crying in the dark among strangers. It's one of life's great joys!" she said.

"I can't wait to celebrate National Cinema Day in my local cinema, revelling in the epic power and beauty of the big screen."
