It is reported that Colin Farrell is attached to star in a planned AppleTV+ series, described as "an LA-set, contemporary take on the private detective story".
Entertainment trade website Deadline says that the streaming service won "a heated auction" for the planned show, which has the working title Sugar.
It has been created by Mark Protosevich, whose credits include Thor and I Am Legend.
Farrell would join Protosevich as an executive producer on the project.
The Dublin actor was most recently seen in BBC Two's Arctic thriller series The North Water.
Farrell will next be seen in cinemas as The Penguin opposite Robert Pattinson in The Batman. It is due for release on 4 March, 2022.
He also has a deal to star in a limited series about The Penguin for streaming service HBO Max.
