Black Panther and Creed star Michael B Jordan has recalled his "worst audition to date" while trying out for Star Wars a number of years ago.

The acclaimed actor was auditioning in front of director JJ Abrams for a role in 2015's Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but it didn't exactly go to plan.

Speaking on the Just for Variety podcast, he said: "That was probably my worst audition to date."

Explaining what went wrong, he continued: "I couldn't wrap my brain around some of the sides, because when you're reading for these high-level projects, there's never really any specificity in the sides.

"Everything's super vague; everything is secret." ("Sides" refers to the selections from a script given to actors to read from in auditions.)

He added: "Reading through, I just couldn't connect it. I definitely bombed that one, for sure.

"I'm pretty sure I ran out of there, like, 'See you guys. I'm outta here.'"

It is not known which role in the Star Wars saga reboot Jordan was auditioning for.

Jordan is set to both act and direct Creed III which is hoped to have a release date in November 2022.
