Demi Lovato to star in food issues comedy series

Singer Demi Lovato is set to star in Hungry, a new, single-camera comedy series about friends who are part of a support group for people with food issues.

US entertainment trade publication Variety reports that the comedy for US network NBC will also be executive produced by Lovato. The star has spoken about her own experience of recovering from an eating disorder.

The series has been written by Frasier and Will & Grace writer Suzanne Martin. Will & Grace star Sean Hayes and Lovato's manager, Scooter Braun, also join Martin and Lovato as executive producers.

Lovato's other screen credits include Will & Grace, Grey's Anatomy, From Dusk Til Dawn: The Series and Camp Rock.

She recently starred in Netflix's Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.
