Alt dreampop singer Lucy Gaffney has released her new and second single Send Me Away. We asked her the BIG questions . . .

"Celestial" is how Liam Gallagher has described the music of the Belfast-born, Liverpool-based singer and speaking about her new song, Gaffney says, "For me the track really encapsulates the dreamy element in the idea of love, getting lost in intoxicating moments and the electric excitement of the unknown."

She adds that the rough edges on Send Me Away, which was produced by The Coral's James Skelly, are intentional. "With the recording, I wanted to capture the garage band rawness from when I wrote it in the rehearsal studio.

"There’s an honest naivety to it that fizzes with electric quirks and kinks from start to finish, igniting an in the moment carefree edge."

"My favourite colour is Prussian blue,"

In her short solo career, Gaffney, who was previously part of the band Southern, alongside Thom, her brother and consistent collaborator, has collaborated with Australian trio DMA’s and toured with Bill Ryder Jones and She Drew The Gun.

Tell us three things about yourself?

Blue Nude IV by Henry Matisse is my favourite painting.

I have a bit of an obsession with fruit, mostly pineapple.

My favourite colour is Prussian blue.

How would you describe your music?

Dreamy alt-rock pop.

Who are your musical inspirations?

They constantly vary with my mood and what I discover day to day but I’d say recently it’s been a good bit of Kurt Vile, Damon Albarn, Courtney Barnett, Cat Power and Yo La Tengo. Also, Fontaines D.C.’s Grian Chatten’s vocal on Roy’s Tune always gets me.

How did you occupy yourself during the coronavirus lockdown?

Watching every episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Sex and The City. Also making a lot of Italian food, at least trying to. Writing a lot, releasing my debut music and trying to get the hang of social media (shameless technophobe).

What’s your favourite song right now?

Alex G - Kicker.

Favourite lyric of all time?

'I remember that time you told me, you said, Love is touching souls, Surely you touched mine, 'Cause part of you pours out of me, In these lines from time to time’ - Joni Mitchell - A Case Of You.

If you could only listen to one song for the rest of your life what would it be?

Very tough question but maybe Devendra Banhart - Middle Names. Always makes me feel at home wherever I am
