Fair City star Ryan Andrews has told RTÉ Entertainment that he thought the writers were joking when they asked him to dust off his Dancing with the Stars moves for this week's episodes of the RTÉ One soap.

Andrews, who plays Seán, was a finalist on this year's Dancing with the Stars and is set to be joined in Carrigstown by a very special guest - Dancing with the Stars professional Karen Byrne.

"I got a phone call," he recounted. "'Fair City's back! Yeah? Cool! So, eh, would you dance?' I thought they were taking the ****!

"Open the scripts - 'Seán starts dancing'. So basically, what my character did during lockdown was dance classes in the park with Damien, Pete, Mairéad and the whole community."

Andrews had to wait longer than most of his co-stars to get back on the socially-distanced Fair City set. Because of Dancing with the Stars, and his role in the Olympia Theatre panto, the last time he had been filming was in December.

"I was like a kid nearly going back to school," he laughed. "It was like that first day going back."

Fair City fans can watch him strut his stuff on Wednesday and Thursday on RTÉ One at 8:00pm.
