Love Island springs quite the surprise on Irish contestant Maura Higgins and romantic interest Curtis Pritchard tonight when they discover they're going on dates with the new arrivals to the villa.

Newcomers Chris Taylor and Francesca Allen choose Maura and Curtis respectively for one of their two dates.

Although Maura doesn't appear to be happy about Curtis being asked out by Francesca, she soon receives a text of her own.

Will Curtis have his head turned on his date with Francesca?

"The poor lad [Chris] is going to be talking to me and I'm just going to be earwigging," she says in the Beach Hut. "I want to hear the way Curtis is behaving!"

When Maura asks Chris why he picked her, she replies: "You've got a cracking personality. You're the type of girl you'd give stick out, but I think you can take it as well."

When Maura says she "wouldn't take anything seriously", Chris tells her: "I'm glad you said that because when you asked me why I took you on a date, I was going to say 'to see if it's all talk'."

Will Maura take a shine to Chris?
