BAFTA Rising Star nominee Buckley (29), who has previously starred in Beast and TV mini-series The Woman in White, plays a Glasgow singer who dreams of becoming a Nashville star in the new movie.
According to the publicity for the new movie, Rose-Lynn is "Fresh out of jail and with two young kids, all she wants is to get out of Glasgow and make it as a country singer in Nashville. Her mum Marion (Julie Walters) has had a bellyful of Rose-Lynn’s Nashville nonsense.

"Forced to take responsibility, Rose-Lynn gets a cleaning job, only to find an unlikely champion in the middle-class lady of the house (Sophie Okonedo). Directed by Tom Harper, Wild Rose is an uplifting story with an original soundtrack about family, dreams and reality, and three chords and the truth."
Buckley had her first success when she came in second place in the BBC talent show-themed television series I'd Do Anything, and went on to play Anne Egermann in the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim's A Little Night Music.

She also appeared in three BBC television series, as Marya Bolkonskaya in BBC's adaptation of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace, as Lorna Bow in Taboo and as Honor Martin in The Last Post.
She has also been cast in a new Judy Garland biopic alongside Renee Zellweger.
Directed by Tom Harper (Peaky Blinders and War & Peace), Wild Rose is in cinemas on April 12.
