Anthony McPartlin and his Britain's Got Talent co-star Declan Donnelly were all smiles as they reunited for the show on Friday.

The much-loved duo shared their first joint selfie in months as they made their way to the London Palladium auditions, captioning it: "#BGT 2019. Audition day 1. The boys are back in town!"

The reunion is the first time since March 2018 that the award-winning presenters will have worked together, after McPartlin underwent treatment for alcohol addiction following a drink-driving charge which saw him banned from driving for 20 months and fined £86,000.  At the time he announced he would be taking the rest of the year off in a bid to focus on his recovery.

Fans took to social media in their droves to welcome Ant back after his brief break from TV:

One fan took to Twitter to say, "Nice to have you back Ant. Dec is great and all that but we all know you're the funny one. #AntAndDecForever".

"YES! Welcome back Ant! Have fun you two! Can't wait to see you back on TV soon," posted another fan.

Someone else commented: "Yes and you look a lot better, lets get ready to rumble and start again, have fun and behave, welcome back."

Another post read: "Great to see you both back on the scene - together. Make sure you look out for each other - we've missed having you around Ant, and hope you're feeling better in yourself now".

The stars arrived at the back entrance of the theatre in an SUV, but did not answer questions from the media.

The telly partners looked relaxed and happy as they posed for photographers outside the stadium, with the pair making sure they waved at fans.

Last year Donnelly hosted the live Britain’s Got Talent shows solo and was joined by Holly Willoughby for the 2018 series of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!.

Britain's Got Talent, which features judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, David Walliams and Alesha Dixon, will air later this year.
