Irish actor Sean Mahon, who plays Ray Kelly in EastEnders, has said he was followed onto a Tube train in London by an irate fan who had taken issue with his character's actions on the BBC soap.
Ray's villainous treatment of onscreen partner Mel Owen (Tamzin Outhwaite) has been one of the talking points in recent months, and actor Mahon has been on the receiving end off-camera.
"There was a lot of affable reaction to me on the streets; it's gotten a little bit darker," he told The Press Association.

The former Red Rock star went on to recount how he had been recognised while travelling on the London Underground.
The Dubliner said an EastEnders fan "ran up and down the platform after me, jumped on the train after me, and then started aggressive talk, then got off the train".
"She was like, 'Who do you think you are?'" he continued.

"That was the extent of the high drama. I didn't know what to do."
Mahon is set to be at the centre of a big EastEnders storyline in the New Year.
EastEnders airs this week on RTÉ One and BBC One on December 27 (7:30pm) and December 28 (8:00pm).
