Shallow, the lead single from the A Star Is Born soundtrack, has rocketed to number one in the Irish singles chart.

Bradley Cooper stars as Jackson Maine and also makes his directorial debut with the film, while Lady Gaga plays singer-songwriter Ally.

This is Hollywood star Cooper's first number one single, while it's the sixth time that musician and actress Gaga has topped the charts in Ireland following Just Dance, Poker Face, Bad Romance, Telephone and Born This Way.

Calvin Harris's collaboration with Sam Smith, Promises, drops to second place in the charts

Last week's chart topper, Promises by Calvin Harris & Sam Smith, retreats to second position, while Marshmello & Bastille’s Happier reaches a new peak of number three.

Kanye West & Lil Pump drop one to four with I Love It, and Australian up-and-comer Dean Lewis hops into the top five or the very first time with Be Alright.

Meanwhile, the A Star Is Born soundtrack has debuted at number one in the Irish albums chart.

Comprising of 18 new songs sung by Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, and some spoken word dialogue tracks featuring other cast members, the soundtrack album marks the third time Gaga has reached the Irish albums chart top spot, following 2008’s The Fame and 2011’s Born This Way.

Twenty One Pilots have scored the second highest position in the charts with Trench, which becomes their second top ten album in Ireland, and highest charting so far.

Kodaline's new album Politics of Living is in fourth place on the album charts

In at number three is The Greatest Showman soundtrack, while Kodaline's Politics of Living is in fourth position.

Eminem's Kamikaze rounds off the top five.
