Niall Horan isn't interested in becoming an actor like his One Direction bandmate Harry Styles as he wouldn't have the patience for it.

Styles is set to make his feature film debut in Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk later this month, but 23-year-old Horan admits he has no desire to follow in Styles' footsteps.

''I don't think I have the patience for it. There's a lot of waiting around. With music you're doing it yourself and you feel like you're in more control," he told The Sun.

''I'm a bit of a perfectionist as well. And I feel like I'm alright at this music thing so I might stick to it.''

The Mullingar man, who launched his solo career earlier this year to rave reviews, says thankfully there is no rivalry between him and the other members of 1D.

Liam Payne,  Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson have all been working on solo projects since the band announced their hiatus in 2015.

''We are enjoying it all, everyone else thinks that we're rivals. It would be weird if we were all releasing the same kind of music, but we're not," he added.

Horan is currently promoting his solo career in Australia and performed on Sunday's grand finale episode of The Voice.
