Elbow and Phoenix are among 20 new acts who have been added to the bill at this year's sold-out Electric Picnic in Co.Laois.

Elbow, who released their seventh album Little Fictions earlier this year, last played Electric Picnic in 2012 and they join new additions including Birdy, Little Hours, Everything Everything and Jagwar Ma at the festival, which runs from September 1 to 3 at Stradbally Hall in Laois.

The list of new additions also includes Mura Masa, Bicep, Hannah Wants, Rejjie Snow, J Hus, Bear’s Den, Eden, The Lemon Twigs, Declan McKenna, Aj Tracey, Alma, Margaret Glaspy, Beoga, Lyra, Kweku Collins, Lewis Capaldi, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Brand New Friend.

Duran Duran, A Tribe Called Quest, Chaka Khan, The Divine Comedy and The xx are among the acts already announced for Electric Picnic, which sold out before the headline acts were even announced.

Festival director Melvin Benn previously told RTÉ Entertainment said he's "really pleased" with the line-up for this year's festival.

He gave a particular nod to The xx who have "paid their dues" and earned their headline slot through their previous performances in Stradbally.

"We're really pleased with it; it feels like there's something there [for everybody]. The whole of the Picnic spreads every age group in Ireland, I think, and the line-up is reflective of that." he said.
