Tiera Guinn, an Engineer working on NASA’s Space Launch System spoke at the Coolest Projects event in the RDS on Saturday. At just 22, Guinn is a graduate of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor’s of Science in Aerospace Engineering.

Tiera currently works as a  Rocket Structural Design and Analysis Engineer at The Boeing Company, specifically working on NASA’s Space Launch System.

Speaking at the Coder Dojo event, Guinn encouraged all the young participants to work hard, follow their dreams and to never give up.

‘’I would tell all the kids here at coderdojo to go for what you believe in, succeed in whatever you want to do and don't ever stop fighting for your dream’’.

Guinn warned that when trying to chase your dreams you will always face different challenges, and the biggest one for her was believing in herself. ‘’The largest challenge that I had to face was truly believing in myself," she said. "I find that many children and many adults for that matter have trouble believing in themselves. If you can't believe in yourself that how can anyone believe in your capabilities’’.

Guinn will return to the U.S where she is working on "NASA’s space launch system for a new era of exploration beyond Earth’s orbit into deep space." The space launch system will be the world’s most powerful rocket and Tiera is currently designing and analyzing portions of the rocket.
