Last winter, a weekend festival of new writing and live music took place in the Project Arts Centre to mark 50 years on air of RTÉ Radio 1's Sunday Miscellany. The result was Miscellany50 Live from the Project.

The brief to each writer was to take a year between when the programme went on air in 1968 and the present, as the starting point for a new piece of writing - tonight's concert takes the years 1983  to 1987.

Paul Rouse

Contributions come from, in order: Martina Devlin (1983) with Bombscare Ballerina, Cyril Kelly (1984) with Winter Solstice, Paul Rouse (1985) with Moving Statues, Alannah Hopkin (1986) with The Thunderbolt and Doireann Ní Ghríofa (1986) with her poem An t-Amhrán Bán.

Music and song on the programme comes from Ryan Molloy (piano) with The Wexford Carol, the Contempo Quartet with the 3rd movement from String Quartet No 2 by Swan Hennessy, and Niall Vallely (concertina) and Ryan Molloy (piano) with Muireann's Jig (Fourth Movement) from Company by Philip Glass and Better Than That by Sara O'Loughlin performed by Loah.
