Report: as Minister for Finance Paschal Donohoe prepares to deliver Budget 2019, is he likely to be swayed by recent political protests?

Dr Niamh Hourigan is a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at UCC and she joined Richard Curran on RTÉ Radio One's The Business to discuss if protests have any bearing on the Minister for Finance when he comes to putting together his budget and just how effective they are in achieving their aims. 

"Social movements which are rooted in communities and come up from there are very powerful", pointed out Hourigan. "A good example would be the water protest, but another good example would be farming protests. Farmers have been one of the most adept groups at using insider and outsider strategies. Over the 20th century in Ireland, they were the most effective protesters of all."
