Ireland's dairy industry is reasonably well placed to benefit from the European Single Market after 1992 according to a report just out. The report also warns of problems if subsidies are gradually reduced, as proposed in the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) negotiations on world agricultural trade.
