The Head of the Pallottine Fathers in Ireland has announced that the Tipperary priest, Father Patrick Ryan, has been dismissed from the order. Ryan returned to Ireland a year ago, after a hunger strike in a Belgian prison, in protest against British attempts to extradite him.

Report shows archive of Ryan and interview with Reverend William Hanly, Superior, Pallottine Fathers, who says that Ryan, when first contacted, was offered an appointment by them, which he refused. He was formally contacted more recently and asked to accept an appointment or accept the consequences.

The reporter is Lorna Donlon.
