Sinn Féin President, Gerry Adams, has called for the disbandment of the Ulster Defence Regiment (UDR). At a news conference in Belfast this morning, he said it was a sectarian paramilitary force which for twenty years had been disliked and feared by the nationalist community. He said it has a proven record of involvement in sectarian killings.
