Mild weather boosts numbers taking part in traditional Christmas Day fundraising activities.
The traditional splash for charity at the Forty Foot in Dublin had plenty of participants and there were more fundraising swimming events in Cork, Waterford, and Galway.
At the UCD athletics track, those taking part in the Goal Mile were urged on by Ryan Tubridy. John O'Shea, Director at GOAL, praised the participants and said the event shows what an extraordinarily generous nation Ireland is.
A special Christmas dinner was held in Dún Laoghaire for hundreds of people who would otherwise have been alone on Christmas Day. Coordinator Margaret Brown praised the efforts of the volunteers who had given up their time to help others.
It was one of those events made special by the gift of generosity.
