Young musicians take part in an open air session ahead of the competitions at Slógadh Náisiúnta.

Slógadh is an annual youth arts festival with competitions in music, drama and dancing organised by Gael Linn.

Regional finals are held from November to April, and the winning participants go through to An Slogadh Náisiúnta, The National Finals. This year the finals are being held in Dún Laoghaire.

Pat Butler meets fiddler Kevin Glackin, concertina player Noel Kenny and flautist Róisín Ní Icí, and joins them and a piper friend for a session. They play two reels 'The Crooked Road' and ‘The Salamanca’.
