A new procedural loosely based on the classic fairytale Beauty and the Beast begins tonight on UK satellite channel Watch.
Cat Chandler (Kristin Kreuk – who played Lana Lang on Smallville) is a smart, no-nonsense homicide detective who is haunted by her own tragic past.
When she was a teenager, she witnessed the murder of her mother at the hands of two gunmen. Cat would have been killed too, but someone - or something - saved her.
No one has ever believed her, but she knows it wasn't a human being that attacked the assassins and saved her - it was animal.
In the pilot, Chandler’s latest case leads to a handsome doctor called Vincent Keller (Terra Nova's Jay Ryan), who was reportedly killed while serving in Afghanistan in 2002.
Keller hides a dark secret - when angry he becomes a beast. Chandler is stunned when he admits he was the 'animal' who saved her the night of her mother's murder.
For years he's been hiding in the shadows, watching over Cat and other innocent people – and now it's time to step out and help Cat bring criminals to justice.
