Presenter McDermott said: "I'm completely excited and delighted to be working on The Movie Show with Mairéad. Not only do we have the dream job of watching new films and chatting with exceptional acting talent, but we'll be giving the great people of Ireland rare and exclusive insights into life behind the camera on all sorts of exciting productions. And I fancy Mairéad. Result!"
Farrell added: "I am thrilled to be part of The Movie Show. There's nothing nicer than getting that bucket of buttery popcorn and heading into the cinema – for the next two hours you can just escape reality! Plus this show gives me a really good excuse to go see cheesy rom coms. ‘I have to honey, it's for work!'."
Eddie Doyle, Commissioning Editor for RTÉ Two, said: "The Movie Show will offer viewers a window into the glamour and excitement of the world of cinema, while at the same time showcasing the best Irish talent working in movies, and the important work being done by the Irish Film Industry."
Produced by Animo and show sponsor Ford for RTÉ, The Movie Show begins on RTÉ Two tonight, Thursday November 1, at 9:00pm.
