Gary Oldman is a fan of Downton Abbey.

The Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy actor surprised Downton star Michelle Dockery when he praised her work in the period drama.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz, Dockery said: "I'm such a fan of Gary Oldman, we were at an event in New York recently and he came over and sort of said he enjoyed the show and how much he loved it. That's amazing, that he's a fan."

Meanwhile, fashion designer-and-director Tom Ford told Dan Stevens, who plays Matthew Crawley in the show, how much he adored the show.

Dan said: "I met Tom Ford at a thing and before I could even get in how much I liked 'A Single Man' he was like, 'Great work on 'Downton'. That keeps happening in a funny way, it's great that people love it so much."

He added: "It's amazing to be ranked up there with Breaking Bad and Homeland. It's a fantastic achievement. It's slightly bizarre."
