Warner Bros. are exploring the possibility of making a prequel to The Shining.
According to the LA Times the idea is being "quietly explored" by Warner Bros and the story would focus on how Jack Torrance, his wife and psychic son came to live in the haunted hotel but the studio source also added that the film is "at a very early stage and not even formally in development."
The film which was released in 1980 starred Jack Nicholson and was adapted from a Stephen King novel.
Stephen King is actually working on a sequel to his novel which will be called Doctor Sleep and it will tell the story of the son Danny who is now an adult living in New York.
