Leeds band The Wedding Present will perform their classic album Seamonsters at shows in Dublin, Galway and Cork this October.

The band are set to play three Irish shows in as part of their Seamonsters 21st Anniversary tour to mark the release of the cult Steve Albini-produced album.

David Gedge and band will play The Button Factory on October 2, Roisin Dubh, Galway on October 3, and Cyprus Avenue, Cork on October 4.

They will perfrom Seamonsters, their third studio album live, in its entirety, along with 40 minutes of other songs.

The Wedding Present released their debut album George Best in 1987, a collection of jagged and bittersweet love songs remarkable for their guitar ferocity and Dave Gedge’s imitable dour vocals and funny lyrics.

Perennial industry outsiders, they explored traditional Eastern European folk music for their major label debut on RCA in 1989. They followed this with the more straightforward Bizarro , which featured their first hit single, Kennedy.

The band’s next recruited the then relatively unknown sound engineer Steve Albini to record Seasmonsters in the wilds of Minnesota in in just 11 days, an epic recording session for the no-fuzz, no-frills Weddoes.
