Paramount executive Adam Goodman has confirmed that a sequel to Tom Cruise’s hit action film Top Gun is officially in development.
In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter Goodman stated that the project is currently in pre-production.
When asked about a possible fifth instalment of the Mission: Impossible series, Goodman said: "We'll likely make a Top Gun sequel with Tom Cruise first. Jerry Bruckheimer would produce, with Tony Scott returning to direct... All parties are moving ahead."
Cruise previously stated that a follow up to the 1986 blockbuster would only happen if the script is good.
The original Top Gun starred Cruise as Maverick, a cocky fighter pilot opposite Val Kilmer and Kelly McGillis.
