Dannii Minogue is said to be "inconsolable" over her split from Kris Smith.
The former X Factor judge confirmed on Twitter earlier this week that her relationship with the father of her son Ethan was over.
Minogue is said to be consoled by her parents at her Melbourne mansion, while Smith has been spotted with models Jennifer Hawkins and Lauren Phillips.
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror newspaper, a source said: "Dannii thought Kris was the one. He is the father of her child and she thought they would be a family forever.
"But the reality is that it has been on the rocks for a year. Dannii fought so hard to make it work, but it was like Kris had given up. It is so devastating for her, given the bad luck she has had with relationships in the past.
"She is inconsolable. Her parents Ron and Carol are with her, and sister Kylie is supporting her as always, but she doesn't feel ready to face the world."
Smith recently thanked fans for their support following news of the split.
