A new Disney animated action-comedy, Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja, has begun production in Ireland, with award-winning Irish company Boulder Media working on the series from animation through to post-production.
Boulder Media has already hired 50 additional animators and artists to work on the show over the next two years, with 52 11-minute episodes set to be made.
Randy Cunningham: Ninth Grade Ninja is due to premiere on Disney XD in autumn 2012 and will be shown in more than 129 countries.
Emmy Award-winning US company Titmouse Inc is working on the pre-production of the series with Boulder Media.
The series follows unlikely hero Randy Cunningham and best pal Howard as they save the world – and Randy's school – from certain destruction.
The voice talent for the series includes Ben Schwartz (Parks & Recreation), Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Megan Mullaly (Will & Grace) and Andrew Caldwell (Transformers).
Anne Tweedy, Boulder Media producer, said: "We are seriously excited to be working on this very cool action-packed show. We anticipate that given the combined talents of Titmouse and our own crew this show will make a lot of noise globally.
"We consider ourselves fortunate to have the best animators, BG [background] artists, compositors and production crew and are proud to say the majority are homegrown with the remainder of the crew coming from across Europe. It is also a thrill to be recognised for the level of work we produce at Boulder."
