Romania to go Irish for Eurovision?

Irish songwriter Karl Broderick's song Twilight is among the finalists in the competition to select Romania's Eurovision Song Contest entry this week.

Broderick said: "I didn't even enter the song into the Irish selection because I believed Jedward's huge fanbase would secure them a win, so I entered Twilight into Romania's contest.

"The song is a nod to the popular films of the same name, about vampires, so I thought it would be interesting to send the song to the home of Transylvania. They came third two years ago.

"I really do feel like the underdog as it's a public phone vote and jury vote and unfortunately I don't have many friends or family to pick up the phone in Romania. But the song has gotten a huge boost by Romania's popular X Factor finalists, T & L, agreeing to be the performers and will compete in the live finals in Bucharest this Saturday, March 10.

"It would be great to get through to the Eurovision as we'd be up against Jedward in the first semi-final and that would be great fun as I'm a fan of the lads.

"As Ireland can't vote for ourselves, it would be fantastic for Ireland to vote for Romania and we'll get all of Romania to vote for Jedward.

"But we still have Saturday's contest to get through, before a possible Euro showdown."
