In the build-up to the Academy Awards on Sunday February 26, the Irish Film Institute has announced that it will be screening the Oscar-nominated Irish short Pentecost for free for two weeks.

Pentecost will be shown at the IFI in Temple Bar at 1.10pm from February 13 to 17 and February 19 to 26.

Tickets are on a first-come-first-served basis, and can be reserved through the IFI Box Office on 01-679 5744 or www.ifi.ie.

Directed by Peter McDonald and set in the build-up to the 1977 European Cup Final, Pentecost tells the story of Damien Lynch (Scott Graham), a football-obsessed altar boy who has been banned from playing and watching his beloved Liverpool after accidently knocking over Father O’Toole (Don Wycherley) during mass.

But Damien's father (Michael McElhatton) gives him the chance to watch Liverpool in the European Cup Final - if he can manage his altar boy duties without any more disasters.
