Adele has revealed that she "felt something pop" in her vocal cords prior to undergoing surgery to fix the voice issues that plagued her for much of 2011.
The singer underwent microsurgery in November to stop the bleeding that resulted from a benign polyp. She said that she knew she had a serious injury but is glad to be well on her way to recovery.
"It felt like someone put a curtain over my throat. It felt like something popped in my throat," she told US news show 60 Minutes.
"I had laser surgery. [They] put lasers down your throat, cut off the polyp, and kind of laser your haemorrhage back together and fix it."
The 23-year-old also discussed the smartphone app she used to communicate while recovering.
"I had an application on my phone that you type the words into it and then it speaks it. But the great thing is I love to swear. Most of [the apps] you can't swear on, but I found this one app where you can swear, so I'm still really getting my point across," Adele said.
