Singer Sinead O’Connor announced this morning live on Today FM that she is getting married for the fourth time.

O’Connor had been a guest on the Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show yesterday where she talked about the release of her new album and her new single How About I Be Me.

However when Dempsey asked her if she had any big news as we come to the end of the year, she had nothing new to share.

This morning, O’Connor rang into the show, saying her Raheny boyfriend, Barry Herridge, had a "crisis of conscience" and together they announced that they are getting married tomorrow.

She said: "He loves your show and he said 'If this leaks out and Ian Dempsey asked you that question and you didn’t tell him, he's going to shoot himself!'"

Herridge also came on the phone and although he would not reveal where the wedding was taking place, he said “it is a very special place to Sinead”.

Dempsey wrote on his Twitter page (@IanDempsey) after the interview: "So Sinead O'Connor was holding back yesterday. Boyfriend Barry Herridge got back to us today to reveal that they will wed tomorrow....”

The date coincides with O'Connor's 45th birthday, as Dempsey added: "And it's Sinead's birthday tomorrow too. Congrats to them both. And Sinead's new album is sounding great too."

Mother of four O'Connor was previously married to music producer John Reynolds, journalist Nicholas Sommerlad and Steve Cooney.
