Doctor Who stars Matt Smith and Karen Gillan have both insisted that they are unattached to any proposed movie adaptation of the BBC sci-fi show.
"I have absolutely no idea what it will be about," Smith told Fearne Cotton on her BBC Radio 1 show. "We're not really anything to do with it," he added, noting that all he knew was what he’d "read in the paper".
Gillan, who plays Who sidekick Amy Pond, said: "There's always rumours about a Doctor Who film... I remember them saying that Johnny Depp was going to be the Doctor."
Both stars went on to say that they "doubt" they would appear in any potential Doctor Who film.
Meanwhile, Alex Kingston – who plays River Song - has expressed her doubts about any film version that doesn’t involve the show’s current creative team.
Speaking on US talk show The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, she said: "I can't believe they're doing it."
She added: "Who are they going to get to write it who is any better than Steven Moffat or Russell T Davies? Honestly, they're the best, aren't they?"
