Filming began in Trinity College Dublin this afternoon on the first Bollywood group dance scene to be shot in Ireland.

A cast of 50 actors and extras danced their way across the cobblestones for the blockbuster movie 'Ek tha Tiger'.

The movie's director said the experience in Dublin had been a very positive one and that he believed lots more Bollywood movies would be filmed here in the future.

Filming on the movie began a month ago and will wrap up at the end of the week.

'Ek tha Tiger' is the first Bollywood blockbuster to be filmed in Ireland - it has brought around €1.5 million to the economy and created over 1,000 short term jobs.

Bollywood movies are known for their big singing and dancing numbers and 'Ek tha Tiger' is no different.

The big routine is being filmed in Parliament Square in Trinity College and features a dream sequence as the title character - Tiger - fantasises about a beautiful dance student he has met at the university.

Bollywood heart-throb with a reputation as a bit of a bad boy, Salman Khan, plays the role of Tiger - an international secret agent sent on a mission to Dublin.

He falls for his target's assistant who is studying at a fictional Dance Academy at Trinity College - this role is played by Katrina Kaif one of Bollywood's highest paid actresses.

Rain kept the two stars out of action this afternoon, but filming and rehearsals carried on without them.

The film's director Kabir Khan said although rain had slowed filming on some days, they had not actually lost any days out of their schedule because of the weather.

He said that' Ek tha Tiger' will be one of the biggest Bollywood movie releases next year and he felt it would inspire other movie producers to look to Ireland for future film-making.

He said the Irish people he had encountered had been wonderful and very welcoming.

Actor Salman Khan said he had really enjoyed his time filming in Dublin. He has been here for a month and said it had been almost like a holiday.

Kahn praised the great atmosphere and rchitecture and said he had managed to see a bit of Dublin and been to a few bars.

He said he had enjoyed filming here and that with many Indians and Asians now living in Ireland he had been recognised quite a bit.
