Last night Alec Baldwin broke Steve Martin’s record with his 16th stint as host of Saturday Night Live opening show.

The 30 Rock star, and possible runner in the next New York mayoral election, kicked off proceedings with a monologue that featured both Martin and Seth Rogen. Martin and Baldwin previously co-hosted the 82nd Academy Awards but last night’s double act was a much more scatological sequence (watch clip here).

Alec Baldwin was most recently in the news when his segment was cut from last Sunday’s Emmy awards ceremony. But following his return to primetime with SNL it appears the 53-year-old New Yorker can do no wrong with comedy fans everywhere.
