The Departed star Alec Baldwin is apparently so keen to become the next mayor of New York that he is going back to college.
The 53-year-old star has said that he can’t run for the 2013 election because he has commitments at his hit show 30 Rock.
However, Bladwin is now reportedly in talks to start a masters degree in politics and government, in autumn 2012 to help him “better understand what the fiscal imperatives of that job are”.
He said: "[University will] help me better understand what the fiscal imperatives of that job are.
"What's the reality of the city unions, of contracts, agreements, teachers, infrastructure, decentralising, everything? And utilities, Con Ed, the M.T.A. — how does it all work?"
The Liberal Democrat has told the New York Times that he may run for mayor in 2017.
