Movie Fest, a new Irish event inspired by the legendary Comic-Con in the US, takes place in Dublin next month, with exclusive previews and footage from upcoming blockbusters set to be screened over two days.
Taking place at Cineworld on Parnell Street on Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 August, Movie Fest will screen Colin Farrell's new film Fright Night and the new Ryan Reynolds and Jason Bateman-starring comedy, The Change- Up.
On Sunday, there will be advance screenings of sci-fi movie Cowboys and Aliens and 30 Minutes or Less, the new action-comedy starring The Social Network's Jesse Eisenberg.
Over the weekend, exclusive footage from the likes of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Steven Soderbergh's Haywire, Guillermo del Toro's Don't Be Afraid of the Dark and Ben Stiller's Tower Heist will be screened, along with a four-minute preview of Steven Spielberg's The Adventures of TinTin and a five-minute clip from the upcoming Total Recall remake, which stars Colin Farrell.
Organiser Vincent Donnelly said: "We really wanted to bring an event for film fans to Dublin that had an air of genuine excitement around it.
"We had taken note of how huge Comic-Con has become in the US, now attracting thousands of people and the biggest stars, and wanted to try to recreate some of that excitement here.
"Irish audiences, among the most frequent moviegoers in the world, can sometimes be neglected when it comes to access to an all-inclusive event like this, and we wanted to make sure that while it was modelled on Comic-Con, it's a very unique event.
"There will be plenty of surprises over the weekend, and plenty of prizes and goody bags for members of the audience, so if you're a movie fan, this is definitely the event for you."
Day tickets are available from Cineworld, priced €22.50, and for full details of the Movie Fest programme, visit: www.movies.ie/fest.
