The garda investigation into an allegation of indecent assault against pop music manager Louis Walsh has been concluded.
In a statement today, the X Factor judge said he had been told by Gardaí that he is no longer under investigation.
Walsh said he had robustly maintained from the outset that the alleged incident at a Dublin nightclub did not occur.
He welcomed today's confirmation from Gardaí that the investigation has concluded and said that he was outraged that the story was published in the first place in The Sun newspaper.
He said this had been a hugely distressing time for him and he has now instructed his lawyer to vigorously pursue legal action against the paper.
He said he would not let the matter rest until he received total and absolute vindication.
Gardaí are now investigating an allegation that a false report was made to them and are questioning a man in his 30s.
