There will be some new faces when the second series of The Walking Dead premieres in America in October.
TVGuide.com, which broke the story, says that actor Scott Wilson (In Cold Blood, Monster, Junebug) will play Hershel Greene, a veterinarian who loses members of his family to the zombies.
Executive producer Gale Anne Hurd said: "He is the patriarch of the family. He's a veterinarian with a great sense of humanity and a very unique take on the Walkers."
Lauren Cohan (Supernatural, Vampire Diaries, Chuck) has been cast as Maggie, Hershel's daughter and a new love interest for Glenn (Steven Yuen).
Both Hershel and Maggie are very popular characters in the series of graphic novels on which the TV show is based.
Also joining the series is Pruitt Taylor Vince (Deadwood, The Mentalist), who will play the Greene's ranch hand, Otis.
The Walking Dead continues on RTÉ Two on Monday nights.
