'The Commitments' star Angeline Ball has been cast in the Channel 4 show 'Shameless'.
The actress will play a hairdresser called Gloria who will style the hair of the Chatsworth Estates women, in a new series of the comedy show.
Ball is thrilled with her new role, in which she will adopt a Manchester accent.
She said: "I'm never shameful to be in 'Shameless'! I've watched the show since it started in 2004.
"It's a quality show full of great actors. What more could an actor want?"
Her character Gloria will run a hair salon from her living room, befriending drug-dealing mum Mimi (Tina Malone) and barmaid Karen (Rebecca Atkinson), reports the Irish Daily Mail.
The actress spoke about her role: "It's really nice to play a girly part. Gloria has a real bond with the women on the estate.
"I've only fixed rollers so far but God help the actor that has to go home with a hair cut from me!"
Filming has just begun for the new series, which is due to air in January 2012.
