The Mendhi commences and brings up heated arguments between the two families while Rainie and Phil rely on each other for support, leaving Shirley fuming.
Tamwar uninvites Masood to the wedding, after concern from Afia, who has been manipulated by Yusef. Christian arrives to the ceremony in traditional dress, impressing Syed but when Christian tries to kiss him Syed avoids it, fearing his family’s reaction.
Masood bursts in on Zainab and Yusef reminiscing about their own mendhi and a heated argument ensues after he forbids the marriage. Tamwar then confesses that the marriage has already taken place. The following day tensions are still rife at an awkward family dinner and Zainab and Yusef have to face up to questions about spending the night together.
Rainie slips up and calls Phil for help, rushing to her aid just as she is ordering a drink in the Vic. Shirley is furious when she spies them together and realises he is her sponsor and accuses him of lying to her for weeks. She doesn’t trust Phil but he explains how both he and Rainie need each other for support and she gives him rules to abide by in his friendship with Rainie. She lets slip to Jay that Phil is her sponsor. Jay and Rainie join Phil and Shirley as Phil reveals he bought the café for Shirley.
Elsewhere, Max and Tanya come close to being caught again as they continue their passionate fling right under Greg’s nose. Julie and Billy bicker over his behaviour which spoils his surprise for her, a new squat on George St.
