Former 'American Idol' judges Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul were all smiles for the cameras when they arrived yesterday for the first day of filming on the US ‘X Factor’.
The pair had a love/hate relationship while on the US talent search show but happily kissed for the cameras as they were reunited.
Paula’s participation in Cowell’s US version of the hit British show was only confirmed over the weekend with the music mogul saying they were prepared to cancel the first day of filming if Abdul hadn’t signed her contract, according to The Daily Mail. The former popstar delayed signing until 11am and the hopefuls wanting to audition were kept waiting for several hours.
When asked why negotiations had gone down to the wire Cowell said "because she’s Paula Abdul".

Paula took her place on the panel beside Cowell and they are also joined by Cheryl Cole and Antonio ‘LA’ Reid.
Paula had been acting as a judge on 'Live To Dance' but the show was cancelled earlier this year. Her only comment on the deal was "I’m here" and she added that she was excited to work with Cole. Meanwhile Cowell seemed eager to start some rivalry between the two saying "you put pretty girls together it’s like three cats in a sack."
Cheryl was on-trend in a pair of purple Diane von Furstenberg trousers and an Oscar de la Renta top, teamed with a turquoise belt and some very big hair!
