X Factor’s Simon Cowell has passed out stars like Elton John and Mick Jagger to grab a spot in the top 10 of music millionaires. The music mogul has seen his wealth soar by £35 million in the past year, according to the Sunday Times Rich List which is due to be published this weekend.
The Press Association reports that his £200 million puts him at sixth in the list of British and Irish millionaires, just one place behind his old friend and rival Simon Fuller who is the man behind ‘Pop Idol’ and ‘American Idol’.
Cowell’s company Syco has signed a new deal with ITV and is also preparing to launch a US version of ‘The X Factor’ which is likely to boost his fortune even further.
And if that wasn’t enough earlier this week he announced plans to launch a new gameshow fronted by Ant and Dec called Red Or Black?
Clive Calder tops the UK music millionaire list with a fortune of £1.3 billion, made from the sale of his Zomba Records in 2002. Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber is second in the list with £680 million, while theatre impresario Sir Cameron Mackintosh is gaining fast in third place, with £675 million.
Sir Paul McCartney is ranked fourth.
The highest new entry in the list is bagged by Irish couple Moya Doherty and John McColgan, who come in at number 34 and are said to be worth £70 million.
