Jedward say they’re going to win The Eurovision Song Contest in memory of their granddad Kevin.

"We used to always watch Eurovision with our granny and our granddad," Edward Grimes says in an interview with the RTÉ Guide. "He passed away but we know he’ll be looking over us at the Eurovision this year. We’re going to the Eurovision this year and we’re going to win it for him. We watched it with him every year."

Jedward’s song 'Lipstick' is tipped to make it through the semi-final stages and go on to the grand finale in Düsseldorf on May 14 and the twins’ family will be in the audience on the night.

Jedward also claim that they’re confident European audiences will understand them and their act. "I think all Europeans will get us because we’ve done 'X Factor' and totally launched us in the UK and Ireland and around Europe," John tells the RTÉ Guide. "But Eurovision is going to be a huge launch pad for us now."

"Everyone else at Eurovision might be partying but me and John and going to stay focused and resting our voices" says Edward. "We’re going into this competition knowing that everybody’s really competitive. We’re the youngest in the competition but we’re not going to let anyone intimidate us."

Jedward also tell the Guide about the influence of their parents Susannah and John on their lives and careers. "Our mom and dad always remember their role as parents. They never try and be our friends, they always tell us what’s not cool," says Edward. "They always tell us what needs to be done. Our mom is not like some Hollywood mom. She still tries to be serious and get us to do things and if she’s upset with something, she’ll tell us."

You can read the full interview with Jedward in the RTÉ Guide on sale Monday, April 25. Jedward are also making a documentary entitled OMG! It’s Eurovision for RTÉ which will air in the run up to the final.
