It has been confirmed that Tanya Branning’s mother Cora Cross is set to arrive in Albert Square. Award-winning actress Ann Mitchell has been cast to take on the role and she will arrive in Walford for her daughter’s wedding next month.

Digital Spy reports that Cora is nothing like her daughter and surprises her on her big day unaware that her fiancé Greg Jessop has invited her along. Cora believes Tanya has turned into a snob and takes no time in reminding her of that.

Also returning to Albert Square is Tanya’s troubled sister Rainie. The drug addict was last seen on screen during Phil Mitchell’s crack addiction storyline and will make an unexpected re-appearance in time for sister’s hen night.

The character of Rainie has apparently turned over a new leaf again and is eventually welcomed by her sister.

Ann Mitchell commented on her casting saying "As a lifelong fan of EastEnders, I am thrilled to join the cast. I am a great fan of June Brown's and am looking forward to sharing some scenes with her."
