Actress Halle Berry, who recently dropped out of ‘New Year’s Eve’ due to a custody battle with former partner, Gabriel Aubry, has said that motherhood always takes priority over her acting career.

The Oscar winner revealed to Ebony magazine that she will never put her own goals ahead of the needs of her daughter, Nahla (2). She said "Being a mother is probably the most important thing in my life right now."

The star added: "Career is important, but nothing really supersedes my role as a mother. That's the most important thing I'm going to do in this life at this point."

Last month, The Associated Press reported publicist Meredith O'Sullivan as saying that "due to pending custody litigation involving her daughter" Berry had to bow out of the film.

Berry’s next film project is 'Dark Tide', which is expected to be released in US cinemas later this year and co-stars Olivier Martinez, with whom the actress is rumoured to be dating.
