The BBC is planning to bring the character of Gene Hunt from 'Ashes to Ashes' and 'Life on Mars' back to TV screens, according to a report.
In the final episode of 'Life on Mars' the mystery surrounding the character was finally revealed and it turned out Hunt (played by Philip Glenister) was trapped in limbo.
The Mirror is reporting that the BBC is thinking about developing a spin-off which places Gene Hunt in the present.
A senior BBC drama producer is quoted as saying it would "be rather interesting" adding "The popularity of New Tricks, which features three yesteryear policemen doing a good job in the modern era, shows that old 'uns can still be good 'uns."
