'Emmerdale' is set for an explosive storyline to mark the soap's 35th anniversary special later this month.
According to reports, Jack Sugden (Clive Hornby) will discover that his wife Diane (Elizabeth Estensen) has been having an affair with his nemesis Billy Hopwood (David Crellin).
Jack viciously attacks bad boy Billy, who was released from prison last year, and throws out his wife, declaring their marriage over.
Heartbroken about losing the love of his life, Billy begins drinking and decides to gain revenge by implying to Jack's teenage daughter Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) that her father Jack was responsible for her mother Sarah's death.
After failing to get any answers, Victoria decides to take drastic action dousing the family home with petrol and threatening to set it alight if Jack does not tell her the truth.
Her brother Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) then confesses that he started the fire that killed Sarah. Victoria races upstairs and trips, gashing her head on the banister. She passes out and is bleeding heavily.
As Andy tends to her, Jack goes to dampen a cloth with some hot water but when he turns on the tap the boiler pilot light ignites petrol fumes, creating a fireball which blows out the cottage windows.
The fire shoots up the staircase, cutting Jack off from Andy and Victoria and leaving all three fighting for their lives.
The dramatic scenes are due to air on 16 October.
