Watchdog clears Emmerdale and Corrie

A scene in 'Emmerdale' featuring binman Ivan Jones (Daniel Brocklebank) and Paul Lambert (Mathew Bose) kissing on a sofa was broadcast in January and drew 126 complaints.
The watchdog said: ''Ivan and Paul's behaviour was no more explicit than that previously exhibited by other characters in the soap.
''Given the inexplicit portrayal of this relationship, we consider that these scenes were acceptable.''
It said 'Emmerdale' had featured a homosexual character for a number of years.
'Coronation Street' has also been cleared by the broadcasting watchdog following the use of the term ''poor white trash'' by an Asian character.
More than 500 viewers complained that the comment was unacceptable and racist when it was aired on 16 January.
But Ofcom said that, while the term has obvious racist overtones, it can also be used in context to describe a low socio-economic group.
The episode showed single mother Sunita (Shobna Gulati) struggling to keep her head above water with her newborn twins after splitting with husband Dev.
While talking with her brother, Jayesh (Ace Bhatti), about moving back with her parents, Jayesh suggests that the move would be preferable to living like poor white trash.
